Zoffany is another well known interior design company. I have included this company within my research because when visiting the website, I loved the intricate detailed designs which are created within the wallpapers. They create quite a vintage theme and create quite subtle looks which work well with interiors. I also love how the colour is very natural within this collection and compliment each other within design.

Osbourne and Little

Osbourne and Little is an extremely well known worldwide interior design company. The company stands out to me because of the varied unique designs and the experimental use of colour. Designs in the company look like they are produced to an extremely high quality in order to match the high standards of the company.

This image that I have found from the Osbourne and Little website shown above reflects the high quality furnishings. This pattern is quite subtle and quite traditional, yet the use of colour and contrasting patterned cushions can make the design look more modern. I quite like this style of work.

The image above is such a contrast in style to the one above which reflects how well known the company is offering a range of different styled interiors. This design is quite Art Deco and has quite warm, yet contrasting colours. The design helps to create quite a tropical mood. Personally, I prefer the more detailed pattern above as opposed to this simplistic flat image, however, that is because I like to work detailed, yet other people may prefer this simpler design.

The contrasting styles show that the company offers various different styles created by different artists, yet all of the designs are finished to a very high standard, which is why the company has such a high standard of interiors.

My current work

In the starting weeks of the course, I have been created drawings using a range of media. Within the first week, I focused on foliage and their structures and created some initial drawings using pencils, coloured pencils, pro markers and fine liners. These different mediums enabled me to create different textures and effects. Next I focused on shells and feathers, using watercolours and gouache paints to capture the textures of shells and feathers. I then moved on to using a range of dry and wet media to study flowers and their structures. I am now currently working on drawings using a range of media related to my visit to Hartepool museum which contained a range of old items, often related to boats and fishermen. I have also been producing large scale A2 drawing sheets to go alongside each study.

Hi all...

Hello, my name is Chloe Rudkin studying a textiles and surface design course, and the blog in which I am going to create will display my own work, alongside work which really inspires me. Everything around us can inspire design in some shape or form, and my desire to succeed in this area will enable me to create work inspired by various objects and situations.
